Three years after its creation, SMT built one of its first district heating networks in March 1977. It was a geothermal water network in the town of Mont‑de‑Marsan supplying several sites: 118 air base, OPHLM Hélène Boucher residence, Maridor police station and Sainte‑Anne Hospital, i.e. almost 6 kilometers of piping.
44 years later, the SID built a gymnasium on the air base that needed to be heated. SMT carried out this branch by connecting directly to the pipes of the first erection.
This job let to the understanding that pipes installed in 1977 were in perfect state and that they could be used for at least as long.
SMT is very proud of this achievement, which shows the durability of Epocal® reinforced epoxy pipes.
