The heating of the 107 air base was supplied by steel heating lines dating from the creation of the base. Due to several operating problems affecting the life quality of the staff and inhabitants of the base, ESID Ile‑de‑France in collaboration with USID of Villacoublay decided to entrust the renewal of the heating networks to the SMT Company.

Thanks to fast erection, SMT laid down 7.7 km of insulated EPOCAL® pipes in a record time of six months. The erection was carried out in 11 successive phases, 37 valve chambers and valves were installed, 48 substations were connected to the primary network and a complete balancing of the network was carried out.

SMT is proud to have lent its know‑how to this project with an innovative design that allows the network to be operated from either end of its loop.
